Honest Riches 2 is a significant upgrade, available to last year's Honest Riches 1 owners at no cost. Classy touch. An eBook author who really means it when she says you'll get free future upgrades.

Honest Riches was always a practical guide, aimed at new entrepreneurs who are starting an affiliate marketing business from scratch. The expanded Honest Riches 2 includes just about everything but the kitchen sink. There are sections on the business of establishing a business, new approaches for building a broader affiliate marketing network, step-by-step niche-finding plans, and tips for conceptualizing and writing your own eBook.

And resources. Lots and lots of resources, updated for 2007.

Honest Riches 2 includes a fairly extensive section on web site development. While we don't necessarily agree with some of her low-cost software recommendations (it's been our experience that you usually get what you pay for), we admire her efforts to provide free or low-cost software solutions to first-time website developers.

However, one of the standouts in Honest Riches 2 is the Open Source chapter, which includes creative ideas for developing web sites that utilize free open source software; for example, Real Estate Listing software for Realtors, business directories, online classified ad sites and online board games.

Mann goes to great lengths to thoroughly explain concepts. The book includes no- or low-investment approaches to generating revenue and progresses to building multiple revenue streams. The book introduces no-website approaches, profiting from product reviews, AdSense integration, website design and content, publicity, list-building, and search engine optimization.

The SEO and pay-per-click sections in Honest Riches 2 are much beefier. Mann offers a clear, concise step-by-step introduction to optimizing web pages for search engines — including on page factors, keyword analysis, and even an interesting aside about the importance of having Class C IP addresses link to you.

Mann covers pay-per-click strategies in some depth, and always with an air of caution and conscientiousness. You'll find solid advice on how to avoid racking up big bucks for ads with low conversion rates. The book also includes a fairly extensive bonus section on starting an eBay auction business, including lists of reliable suppliers and drop-shippers.

Holly Mann's forum, the HonestWork From Home Success, is a friendly forum, which Mann actively participates in. It's a good place for beginners to hang out, make friends, and pick up free advice.

Our biggest complaint about Honest Riches 2 is that the table of contents is not thoroughly linked. A little thing, perhaps. Call us persnickety.

But this drawback aside, we recommend Honest Riches. While "Breakthrough Money-Making Secrets Revealed" covers much of the same ground as other bestselling guides, the price is right. (And anyway, all general affiliate marketing manuals cover much of the same ground.) Honest Riches is a welcome, prudent introduction to affiliate marketing from someone who seems to care about helping others do it right.
