CBProsense is the very definition of contextual plug-in. Paste a small chunk of HTML code anywhere in any web page and instantly populate a space with live, clickable merchant listings from the ClickBank Marketplace. Clicking a merchant's ad opens the merchant's website in a new window, so visitors remain on your site. ClickBank affiliate hoplinks are encrypted and embedded in each merchant link, so affiliates automatically earn commissions on any sale resulting from click-throughs — no need to sign up as an affiliate with each merchant individually.

CBprosense is similar to other contextual ad delivery systems, such as Google AdSense and Yahoo YPN. CBprosense, like other contextual ad delivery systems, instantly turns pages into commission collectors. Content-relevant advertising tends to yield higher click-through ratios, often as high as 3% - 4.5%.

But CBprosense is different in that it delivers content-relevant ads for ClickBank products only. While this limits the product range displayed, commission payouts are much higher for ClickBank products — typically 40% - 75% of sales — and you can filter out listings that fall below specified commission levels.

You can plug in CBprosense's generic HTML and manually modify ad attributes, or generate the HTML through CBprosense's online Ad Builder and paste in the code in one fell swoop. Ad Builder includes a slick WYSIWYG preview, which you can edit and regenerate.

Ad content relevancy can be achieved by two methods. CBProsense will crawl and fully index your web pages, then populate your ads with content-sensitive listings. Alternatively, you can assign relevant keywords to an ad and the CBprosense search engine will pull keyword-relevant product listings, overriding the system's auto content-sensing mechanism. While CBprosense's content-relevant product matching technology is quite impressive, the keyword override method provides an excellent althernative for pages which aren't keyword-rich. This method also ensures complete compatibility with ads on that page from other contextual networks such as Google AdSense.

CBprosense ads are impressively customizable — to a much greater degree than AdSense — which means they can be blended seamlessly into page content. Customizable attributes include: ad width and height by pixels or percent, text & link colors, background color, font, text wrap, line breaks, and the number of product listings displayed — up to 100 products. Competitive product filtering is possible through keywords you specify; products whose titles or descriptions contain any of your specified keywords are not displayed. The "Ads by CBprosense" header tag can also be omitted, though including this clickable referral tag allows you to earn a 50% commission on any CBprosense referrals.

Ad layouts include AdSense-style bullet lists with or without descriptions and search box listings. Below you'll find a search box example. At right, you'll find a text ad pre-seeded with the keyword "forex."

CBprosense provides a cursory statistical report which summarizes total click-throughs and impressions. It would be nice for publishers to have a more robust affiliate tracking system with detailed impressions and click-throughs by ad. Other minor drawbacks include the inability to save default palettes in the Ad Builder interface, and the lack of support for fully customizable search results templates. We'd also like to see a more sophisticated method of HTML list handling which would allow text to properly align under bullets and proper headline breaks.

And while the subscription allows you to generate an unlimited number of ad units for an unlimited number of websites, you're limited to one ad feed per page. Though arguably, one shouldn't be running multiple ad units on a page, anyway, since the effectiveness of each would likely be diminished by the presence of the other. And you can successfully run a search box ad and a text ad on the same page, as our example demonstrates.
